Profile 

I am an enthusiastic, hard working and versatile individual with excellent interpersonal skills and team working ability. I relish new experiences and endeavour to keep an open mind, approaching every situation as such trying to be as adaptable and effective as possible. Having taught in Bari for an academic year, I am looking for a part time position in Xiamen for the summer. 

Experience Oct ’11 – June ’12 School of Europe Bari, Italy

EFL Teacher

Classes taught here were monolingual Italian classes, and mainly exam preparation courses for Cambridge exams, of which I taught; Trinity grades 3-11, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and TOEFL. I also had many individual students and adult general English and Business English classes. Students’ ages ranged from 10 upwards and classes were usually a maximum of 8 students.

This, being my first time working abroad, I faced many challenges and problems, which I faced up to and dealt with very well, showing my ability to adapt to a different culture from my own. I relished the opportunity to improve my Italian, and generally I feel that this was a fantastic experience which helped me to greatly improve myself personally and professionally.

EFL Teacher

Duties included: teaching 1 to 1 classes, junior groups aged 11-18 and Business English and adult classes of all levels as well as lesson preparation and administrative work. This position was greatly challenging, but I rose to the challenge, and was promoted from junior to adult teaching due to my good reliability, interpersonal skills and consistent positive feedback.

Bike Hire Assistant

Duties included: till work, bicycle cleaning and maintenance, giving route advice and also delivering a safety talk for all groups renting bikes with us. Working here required a good work ethic and a positive attitude - it presented me with many new challenges; I learned the importance of customer care and also sparked a personal passion for bicycles.

Whilst at University I went on several trips around Europe and Asia, and enjoyed travelling whenever I had the opportunity. I was a part of several societies and clubs including: the Buddhist society, the Italian society and the University swimming club. My interests range from reading, listening to and writing music, cookery, languages as well as sports - especially swimming, football and basketball.
