This role involved project work in a Business Analyst role. It acted as a platform to improve communication skills, work as part of a team and re-produce information in a clear and understandable way.

 

• Huawei Technologies – Summer Internship – Beijing and Shenzhen, China

August 2012 – September 2012

This 5 week internship with Huawei gave me an insight into the telecommunications industry, including areas of network topology, security and management. It also provided experience in consultancy – including the extraction of requirements and building a solution based upon these.

• Volunteering

IT Skills:

• Experience in various programming languages including XHTML, C#, JavaScript, php, MySQL and ORACLE databases.
• Intermediate ability in using specialist software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Visual Studios and Visual Paradigm for UML.
• Familiar with various operating systems including various editions of Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

 

 

Language and Teaching Skills:

 

• Native English speaker. Born and lived in the UK for 21 years.
• 120 hour TEFL course qualification obtained in 2013.
• Learning Mandarin since July 2012. 2 week course at Beijing Language and Culture University. Enrolled in a double module at the University of Southampton. Will undertake further classes as part of my degree at Xiamen University.
• Tutored a Chinese student at the University of Southampton for 6 months as part of a language exchange programme.

Positions of Responsibility and Achievements:

 

• Student Ambassador – A member of a small University of Southampton academic delegation sent to Xiamen University in China to promote Southampton to prospective students and build relations with Xiamen University.

 

• Crawley Business Challenge – Lead a team of 6 to create an environmentally friendly business concept. Having won the local competition we then went on to compete in ‘The Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow’ national competition.
